About Us
It all started with a Kickstarter campaign for a small magnetic fidget toy called the INDX. Once the campaign finished and all rewards were shipped out, many people were asking how they could buy another INDX!
Our name comes from the usage of magnets in our products. Magnetic flux is the measurement of the total magnetic field passing through a given area. We love magnets and the distinct tactile feedback that they provide, and all of our current and future products feature magnets in some capacity.
Our Mission: Real Products
We live in a world that is becoming increasingly virtualized and fake. Many products nowadays are made to look and feel like the "real thing" even though they're just a simulation. Some examples include:
- Headphones with weights in them, to make them feel higher quality
- Cars that play engine noises through the speakers while driving
- User interfaces trading physical buttons for touch screens
Many products that used to be real mechanical devices you could feel in your hands are being replaced by screens and software, or at the very least, nonfunctioning versions that "look" real but actually aren't.
Why is this happening? Artificial products like the examples above are simpler and therefore cost less money and pose less risk to the companies selling them. Sometimes, this benefits both companies and consumers, but usually it's just the companies that are better off.
Fluxx Design is going in the opposite direction: we're betting that there are still plenty of people out there that appreciate real, tactile, physical, fully functioning products. We are not against the advancement of modern technology in any way, but we see a gap emerging in the world of real physical products.
We're starting with fidget toys that provide engaging tactile feedback, but plan to expand to products useful across many areas of life. If this mission interests you, keep checking back as we expand!
